After a beautiful nine months the Open Mic at the Drip is defunct. Thanks to all who made it the glorious community it was and will be again. We are looking for a new venue to get back to once a week so we can continue building our creative community and coming together and supporting each other. Its a major disappointment to all of us that our run has come to an end. Stay tuned for news on the new venue and also please make any suggestions you may have. The host is long time Asheville emcee and Poet, Kapila McNary. There will be a Slam bi monthly. Wherever we go from here, we will still have top shelf sound equipment, a consistently great, attentive audience, and will be blessed with a gifted assortment of Musicians and Poets. Please come and share your art in a supportive appreciative atmosphere when we get there. Kapila also offers a high quality professional recording of your set for a very minimal cost, which is a great way to share your music or have a demo of your work. Spread the word, this is a great community resource.Need further info or directions, please call the dripolator at 828 225 0021 or Kapila at 828 777 2326Please, for your stress management, be prepared to park elsewhere, as parking is limited, and pay attention to parking restrictions.
We feel greatly saddened also. We just discovered the open mike at the Dripolator. There are so few open mikes in a supportive smoke free atmosphere. Most of them are in bars which do not provide the most conducive environments to make music or poetry that is actually listened to. We really appreciate what a great job Kapila does in encouragiing a wide range of talent.
We will continue to come out on the first thursays of each month whenever we can make it.
